Dear friends of Nick Schwabe,
Because we received a significantly larger number of reservations than originally anticipated for the Celebration of Life event for Nick, we had to change the time schedule for the Memorial Hike to Mystery Lake. The new times and details are given below.
Celebration of Life for Nick Schwabe
The Celebration of Life for Nick Schwabe will be held Saturday, October 18th, 2014.
It will consist of two parts:
1. Memorial Hike to Mystery Lake on Mt Seymour.
We’ll honour Nick at the very place that was his favourite spot for quiet contemplation .
12.15 pm: meet on Mt Seymour parking lot ( far end ) and ascend to Mystery Lake; 1.5 km distance, 120 m altitude gain.. .
We’ll split the participants into two groups. The stronger hikers will ascend to the lake along a forested trail; the easier group will climb on an open
but somewhat gravely trail.
1.00 pm: arrive at Mystery Lake , participate in ceremonial proceedings… refresh yourselves with a lunch..
2.15 pm: start slow descent to parking lot
Participants should wear good walking/hiking shoes and perhaps some rain gear; bring some lunch and water, and of course bring your cameras for capture of a special event.
2. Official Reception
Location: Holiday Inn ( Ballroom )

Time: 3.30 to 6.00 pm
Program:
3.30 pm: door opens, host bar and beverages will be available
4.00 pm : Official Reception; Tributes to Nick . Anyone is welcome to recount personal experiences with Nick
5.00 – 6.00 pm : Light meals and refreshments , buffet style.
