News for all young Swiss abroad
From Monday 10 to Sunday 16 August 2015, the youth service of the OSA is organising a seminar to accompany the congress in Geneva.
The topic of the seminar is “Educating citizens: the guarantee of a living democracy”. We will discuss the issue and actively examine the question:
“How can we make ‘political’ participation by young Swiss abroad more active and interesting?”
We are offering you the unique chance to take part in the inaugural Swiss Abroad Youth Parliament, under the motto “by the youth, for the youth”.
Together with the Swiss Youth Parliament’s umbrella organisation (DSJ), we are founding a youth parliament consisting of young Swiss abroad. Together, we will develop an action plan for the Youth Parliament in the context of OSA’s “Vision 2036”.
The Youth Parliament’s goals will be:
– Improving youth political engagement from the “fifth Switzerland”
– Discussions, networking and information for young Swiss abroad
– Collaboration in the creation of youth offerings
In the seminar you will also find out how a “political” debate works. Together with the Dialog Foundation, you will take part in a debate workshop and, using a factual issue, learn how to acquire information to argue your point of view and how to recognize and accept differing opinions. You will then be able to apply this new knowledge and skills at the Congress of the Swiss Abroad.
If you would you like to be active internationally for young Swiss abroad, please register on our website at www.swisscommunity.ch
